According to Section 11 of the Aliens Act, you must usually have resided legally in Denmark for at least 8 years (in some cases 4 years). Additionally, you must not have committed certain types of crime, must not have overdue public debt, and must have passed the Danish Language Test 2 (Prøve i Dansk 2).

Under Section 9 of the Aliens Act, several requirements apply, including that both parties must be at least 24 years old, the marriage must be voluntary, and the resident in Denmark must be able to support the applicant financially. Requirements for financial collateral and suitable housing often apply as well.

Yes, in certain cases, an exemption from fee payment may be granted if Denmark's international obligations (e.g., the right to family life) or special social reasons argue for it. This is assessed individually for each case.
